The Historic Preservation Commission act in an advisory capacity to the Zoning Administrator:
- in matters concerning applications to designate historic landmarks
- to review proposed changes within an historic district
- to consider applications for permission to demolish and for conditional use permits for an historic landmark or within an historic district
- to establish other rules and regulations consistent with the intent and purpose of the Historic Landmarks and Districts ordinance
The Commission has nine members appointed to three year terms. Members should have special interest, education and/or experience in historic preservation. Members must include at least two architects and one attorney. Members may not hold any other elected or appointed position in City government.
The Commission usually meets in the 4th Floor Conference Room of City Hall at 7:00 pm on the third Thursday of the month when there is business. Click on the Historic Preservation Commission link for more information, including a map of University City Historic Districts.
