Aging Well Health Care

University City residents are fortunate to have AW Health Care, a quality provider of home health services located right in their neighborhood. The “AW” stands for “Aging Well”. “Aging Well” perfectly describes the company vision to help all clients maintain a healthy body, active mind and positive outlook. Conveniently located at the intersection of Midland and Balson Avenues, AW Health Care has become one of the premier home health aAW Healthcare Imagend home care companies in the region.

In 2001, the founders of AW Health Care saw a profound need for specialized in-home services that could meet the demands of the region’s culturally diverse communities. This became the mission: To bring full-service medical and personal care to people in a language they could understand.

Today AW Health Care is one of University City’s largest employers with 60 employees based in the University City office and 400 employees overall, serving 1500 clients throughout the Missouri and Illinois region.

AW Health Care provides medical and therapy services in the home after a hospital or nursing facility stay, or after an injury, fall or physical decline. Private duty services are available to help with household chores and personal care. Services also provided include chronic disease management, senior care navigation, adult day care, wellness programs and mental health assistance as well as onsite outpatient physical therapy.

Services can be provided not only in English, but in any preferred language, and delivered with great sensitivity to different cultures and religious traditions.

The adult day care facility in U City hosts a diverse group of clients who have forged friendships and enjoy staying active and engaged. Co-owner Irina Bursak states that AW is one of the unique providers who accept a wide range of insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid. “Our staff of professionals works closely with the Department of Mental Health, veterans’ groups and the Jewish Community to meet the diverse needs of the area’s aging population,” she said. “We are fortunate to have been in this location in the heart of U City for nearly 20 years and strive to meet the needs of our clients who have become part of our family.”
