Park Improvements

Ackert Park

In 2021/2022, the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has received a Municipal Parks Grant in the amount of $525,000 from the Municipal Parks Commission of St. Louis County for the redevelopment of Ackert Park including installing a Splash Sprayground. 

The Municipal Parks Grant program is a competitive program provided and administered by the Municipal Parks Grant Commission of St. Louis County. The purpose of the grant is to provide financial assistance for the development and/or improvement of our municipal parks.

Fogerty Park

In the spring of 2020, with grant funds received through the Municipal Parks Grant Commission of St. Louis County, the City completed the replacement of the trail and lighting and added a Splash Sprayground.

Greensfelder Park

With a grant received through the Municipal Parks Grant Commission of St. Louis County, the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has developed a Concept Design for the possible redevelopment of Greensfelder Park.

Heman Park Pool

In the spring of 2020, the department has completed various work associated with the bathhouse. These projects included the replacement of doors, and the repair and replacement of electric and plumbing.

In 2025, the department installed a Splash Sprayground east of the Heman Park Swimming Pool with funding assistance.  Entrance is accessible through pool admissions. The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has received a Municipal Parks Grant in the amount of $525,000 from the Municipal Parks Commission of St. Louis County for the addition of a splash pad at the Heman Park Swimming Pool.

Lewis Park

Staff has placed a retaining wall on the north end of the park to slow down, direct and capture storm-water runoff into field drains. The department will continue to explore other options to slow down and collect water coming through the park.

Majerus Park

With a grant received through the Municipal Parks Grant Commission of St. Louis County, the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has completed the redevelopment of Majerus Park. The project included the removal and replacement of the asphalt walking trail, new concrete sidewalks, and the removal and replacement of a playground.

Millar Park

In 2025, the department redeveloped the west baseball field into a high school regulation baseball field with the funding assistance. The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has received a Municipal Parks Grant in the amount of $525,000 from the Municipal Parks Commission of St. Louis County for the redevelopment of this ball field.
