Applying for Permits
The Department of Planning & Zoning (4th floor of City Hall) is open 8:00am – 4:45 pm Monday - Friday. There are a few different ways you can apply for permits: online, by email, or in-person. Read below to learn about each option.
Applying Online
Our permitting portal (MyGov) allows residents, contractors, and property owners to apply for permits online, track progress, pay fees, correspond with permit reviewers, and download issued permit documents. At this time, most permit types are available for online application (see table below).
*Please note: at this time, building permit applications (residential and non-residential) are NOT available for online application through MyGov - these can be submitted in-person or via email (more info below).
Applying via Email
To apply via email, please send your application form and supporting documents (plans, owner authorization forms, photos, etc.) to inspections@ucitymo.org. Once we have processed your request, which can take up to 48 hours, our administrative staff will call you to accept credit card payment over the phone.
If you are applying for a Building Permit (Residential or Non-Residential), please deliver four paper copies of your plans to the Department of Planning & Zoning (City Hall, 4th Floor). If your plans are 11"x17" or smaller and contain no more than five pages, we can print your plans for you; plans greater than this size or quantity must be provided by the applicant.
Applying In-Person
Any permit application that can be applied for online or via email can also be applied for in-person. If you have any questions, please contact our administrative staff at 314-505-8500 or inspections@ucitymo.org.
If you are applying for a Building Permit (Residential or Non-Residential), please bring your completed application form along with four paper copies of your plans to the Department of Planning & Zoning (City Hall, 4th Floor).
