Pershing Avenue Improvement Project: Tree Removal
Pershing Avenue Sidewalk Improvements Project
The Pershing Avenue Improvement Project, set to begin Spring 2025, will bring upgraded sidewalks, curbs, and asphalt pavement from Linden Avenue to Forest Park Parkway. During planning, some trees along the public right-of-way were identified as being in conflict with the construction. To ensure the safety and integrity of the project, these trees will be removed before construction begins. Their roots would otherwise be disturbed, posing risks to the trees' health and public safety.
In order to ensure the successful completion of the project and to preserve the safety and integrity of the new infrastructure, it is essential that the trees be removed prior to the start of construction. The city plans to replace the removed trees with new ones during the Fall of 2025.
Ferguson Avenue Sidewalk Improvements Project
The City is committed to enhancing infrastructure and improving pedestrian safety. As part of this commitment, we are excited to announce a Sidewalk Improvements Project in your area, scheduled to begin in Spring 2025.
Project Overview
This project focuses on the construction of new sidewalks, curbs, ramps, and signage along the public right-of-way (ROW), spanning from Olive Boulevard to Melrose Avenue. These upgrades will enhance accessibility and safety for pedestrians in the community.
Tree Removal and Replacement
During the planning and assessment phases, it was identified that certain trees along the ROW conflict with the construction plans. To prevent potential damage to these trees and the infrastructure, as well as ensure public safety, the following steps will be taken:
- Trees in conflict with construction will be removed prior to the project start.
- New trees will be planted in Fall 2025 as part of the City’s commitment to urban forestry and sustainability.
