Nominations for City Council shall be made by petition signed by no fewer than 50 and no more than 75 registered voters who are entitled to vote for the candidate in the Ward where they live. No voter can sign more than one nominating petition for the same office.

There is a $50.00 fee to file and filing must be completed at the City Clerk’s office. Filing opens at 8:00 a.m. on December 7, 2021 and closes on December 28, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. Declarations will be accepted at City Hall, 2nd floor, room 4, 6801 Delmar Blvd, University City, MO 63130 as follows: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The first day of filing will be done by lottery drawing by the candidate and subsequent filers will follow on the ballot as submitted.
Please note City Hall will be closed on Friday, December 24, 2021. For safety during the coronavirus pandemic, you may schedule a time to file by contacting the City Clerk at 314-505-8605 or by email at lreese@ucitymo.org. You may also walk in during the hours previously listed.
All candidates must be qualified voters in University City and a resident thereof for at least 3 consecutive years prior to election, be a resident of the ward from which elected, cannot hold any other elected public office or compensatory position in the City government, and be current on all state and city taxes.
