On Monday, Feb.23, Tim Cusick announced his resignation as University City Ward Two Councilmember to the members of the City Council effective at the end of the month.
“I hope that I have been able to help the citizens, the residents and the wonderful people of U City in the past four and three quarters years in the time that I served on the Council. I have found that the residents of U City are very engaged and care about their community,” said Cusick. “I feel that my time here was well spent, and I hope that I have helped make a difference.”
Cusick stated the reason for his resignation is from his displacement from his home due to the flood in July 2022. He will be fulfilling his wish to retire and move to Arizona.
Mayor Terry Crow shared his gratitude and thanks to Cusick at the meeting. “You put your head down, you did your work and you got elected...You put your heart and soul into everything that you do. You will be missed, and you have left our community in a better place,” said Crow.
Cusick was first elected to the City Council on Apr. 3, 2018. He was reelected for a second term on Apr. 5, 2022. He served as a member of the Library Board and the Stormwater Commission.
Per the City Charter, the Council has 60 days to appoint a replacement for the Ward Two Councilmember. The appointed member will serve until the next April election at which time a successor will be elected for the unexpired term. In the event the council is unable to agree within sixty days, then a special election shall be held to fill the vacancy until the next regular municipal election.
