[ARCHIVED] City of University City to join national ‘Economic Development Week’ celebration

EcoDevoWeek2024

This year, the City of University City is participating and celebrating Economic Development in U City through National Economic Development Week. Throughout the week, the City will be showcasing various programs and initiatives available in University City that provide support, resources, training, and funding to benefit local residents and business owners. Tune in daily on the University City social media channels to discover the exclusive offerings tailored for residents and businesses in University City.

"We are thrilled to celebrate some of the many achievements in economic development within our community and to engage in discussions regarding future paths and prospects for continuing to promote inclusive growth in University City."” said Deputy City Manager and Director of Economic Development Brooke Smith.

Economic Development Week is celebrated globally from May 6-10. The celebration is a dedicated week-long initiative that honors economic development. Introduced in 2016 by the International Economic Development Council, the campaign aims to raise awareness about local programs that create job opportunities, support local businesses, enhance career growth prospects, and improve overall quality of life. Since its inception, more than 450 local city governments and nonprofit organizations have joined this movement.

The economic development profession cultivates thriving neighborhoods, champions sustainability and resiliency, boosts economic prosperity, enhances the quality of life and builds a robust tax base. The City is excited to share the work of our Economic Development Department at University City during this week.
