[ARCHIVED] Community Meeting for Flood Victims - Next Steps

The City will host a community meeting on February 26, 6:30 PM, Heman Park Community Center, 975 Pennsylvania, to share the latest developments for long-term flood protection along the River des Peres. City Staff will present its analysis in determining a plan for buyouts on the riverside of Wilson Ave. Staff will also discuss the tentative plan to have Great Rivers Greenways extend the Centennial Greenway, a pedestrian and bike path that starts at Forest Park and will extend to Creve Coeur, on the river-side of Wilson to Shaftsbury. The greenway will have new landscaping to help mitigate minor flooding once the homes are removed. Representatives from the U.S. Corp of Engineers and Metropolitan Sewer District will also be present to answer questions. Because the plan will cost in excess of $1million for the City’s share of the cost of the buyout, the entire community is invited to attend. For more information, contact Petree Eastman at 505-8535 or peastman@ucitymo.org.
