On May 23, the University City City Council entered into a partnership agreement with St. Louis County, allowing U City residents to access the Sustainable and Verifiable Energy Savings (SAVES) loan program. This program offers a 3.5% loan to homeowners for upgrades that reduce energy costs in their home.
St. Louis County launched the SAVES program in late May and has approximately $10.3 million to loan out countywide. Loans will be made on a first come first serve basis to residents of communities who have entered into a cooperative agreement with St. Louis County.
