Community Meeting for Flood Victims-Next Steps on February 26 at 6:30 PM, the City will host a Community Meeting to share the latest developments for long-term flood protection along the River des Peres. The meeting will be held at the Heman Park Community Center, 975 Pennsylvania. City Staff will be present its analysis in determining a plan for buyouts on the riverside of Wilson Ave. Staff will also discuss the tentative plan to have Great Rivers Greenways extend the Centennial Greenway, a pedestrian and bike path that starts at Forest Park and will extend to Creve Coeur, on the river-side of Wilson to Shaftsbury. The greenway will have new landscaping to help mitigate minor flooding once the homes are removed. Representatives from the U.S. Corp of Engineers and Metropolitan Sewer District will also be present to answer questions. Because the plan will cost in excess of $1million for the City’s share of the cost of the buyout, the entire community is invited to attend.
