St. Louis County is replacing the one-day collection events for household hazardous waste (HHW) with permanent HHW drop-off locations that will be open on a routine schedule. The first permanent Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off site is located at 291 Hoffmeister, St. Louis MO 63125 on the grounds of Metropolitan Sewer District’s Lemay Waste Water Treatment Plant. Construction of the building is complete, with the exception of installation of two outdoor chemical storage lockers. When the lockers are installed, the facility and reservation system will be tested by a pilot group of residents. St. Louis County is currently seeking residents interested in testing the reservation web site and facility operations by making an appointment, bringing HHW materials to the Lemay site (located at 291 Hoffmeister, St. Louis, MO 63125), and then evaluating their experience, including suggestions for improvement. If you are a household in Saint Louis County, the City of St. Louis or Jefferson County that is interested in participating in the pilot, please send an e-mail to recycle.doh@stlouisco.com with "HHW Pilot" in the subject line.
